Lady May

Lady May. My brothers dog. She was fairly green coming into this trip and it was a particularly tough one for dogs. Nasty, deep, swampy reeds that were over our heads. We also hunted small pockets, so marking was essential as well as shooting birds dead before they hit the ground. We learned the hard way, even with Rooster, our chances of finding a winged bird after it hit the reeds, was slim to none.

Rooster ended up getting a rash from his vest, underneath his arms, that was so bad I had to leave him in the truck for the last few days of the trip. And on that first day by herself, she picked up a 10 year old Mallard drake band. I took this picture shortly after that retrieve.
